Todd Tefteller is an experienced attorney with deep ties to Upshur County, Texas. A 5th generation local, Todd’s family has a rich history in the area. His great-great-grandfather was a Republic of Texas citizen who settled in Upshur County after fighting in the War of Northern Aggression. Todd's grandfather, Tully Reynolds, was the U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Texas during the 1960s, appointed by President Kennedy and re-appointed by President Johnson. This legacy of public service has greatly inspired Todd.
Born in Gilmer in 1960, Todd grew up just a few blocks from his current law office. He graduated from South Texas College of Law in Houston in 1984 with honors, finishing 4th in his class and topping the Texas Bar Exam in March 1985. Todd was licensed by the Texas Supreme Court on his 25th birthday and has been a dedicated trial lawyer ever since.
At 31, Todd earned certification as a specialist in Civil Trial Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction held by fewer than 1% of Texas attorneys. He handles a variety of cases, including tort and injury, criminal defense, probate, domestic relations, and high-profile civil litigation. Todd also has experience with federal court cases.
Todd stays active in his community, serving on the Gilmer ISD school board. He and his wife JoEllen have three sons, one of whom, Clayton, was part of the Texas Longhorn football team that won the National Title in 2005.
