You can go anywhere you want to have a surgical procedure done because whether you are in Dallas, Texas or New York City the outcome of a certain medical procedure is usually not dependent upon the geographic location where it is performed.
On the other hand, the law often works directly the opposite. This is because the law is venue specific. Lawsuits must be litigated and tried in the proper county of venue no matter what kind of case it is. Stated another way, the law requires that a lawsuit be conducted in the county where one of the parties lives, or in the county where the occurrence or conduct complained of happened.
Accordingly, a trial is usually decided by a group of people located in the county of venue. Therefore, twelve people from Upshur County, Texas may have a completely different set of moral standards they use to evaluate a set facts than another group of twelve jurors from El Paso, Texas may have. Knowing the cultural, social and often moral values and idiosyncrasies of East Texas juries gives us a keen edge when it comes to trying and winning lawsuits in East Texas courts.
